Even and Odd Functions....ugh....

How i understand even and odd functions:




Even: functions where the left half of the plane is a mirror image of the right half

Ex. f(x)= x^2






Odd: functions where the left half of the plane is a mirror image of the right half, but its upside down across from the other
Ex. f(x)= x^3


Simply: f(x) is even if f(x)= f(-x) and is odd if f(-x)= -f(x)

  1. not just upside down though, it can be flipped around any other way. pretend its like a twister arrow. it spins on the origin, but its still the same image. ?? ahh, idk......

    my analogies SUCK, but we have to comment. haha, im probably wrong anyhow

  2. Yes, but this was pretty much defined for you in my links. YOUR task was to explain how f(-x)=-f(x) is the same thing as being symmetric about the origin, etc. Explain the actual symbols f(-x)=-f(x)
